800-Hour Education Advantage

Built for Students Who May Want Greater Multi-State Flexibility

Massage therapy licensing requirements vary by state. AMOM's 800-hour program provides substantially more education than the minimum hour requirement in a number of states and reaches the education-hour threshold used by some higher-hour jurisdictions. Students planning to practice outside Michigan should always verify the receiving state's complete licensing requirements.

Michigan

AMOM's 800-hour program exceeds Michigan's commonly applicable massage education-hour minimum.

Texas

Texas requires at least 500 hours of approved massage therapy education. The AMOM program provides 800 total program hours.

Maryland

Maryland's education-based LMT pathway requires at least 750 contact hours, together with additional program and accreditation requirements.

Important: Total program hours alone do not guarantee licensure in another state. States may also require specific subject hours, examinations, school approval or accreditation, supervised practice, prior licensure, work experience, background checks, or other requirements.

New York: New York generally requires a 1,000-hour licensure-qualifying massage therapy education program for initial licensure. An 800-hour education pathway exists in certain endorsement situations, but additional experience and other requirements apply.
